Hi all
I have a Simpletech 2GB SD card from a camera. It was in the camera and the photos were being viewed when it suddenly locked up. Error message said something like "Card is Locked"
- Inserted it into different card readers
- Different versions of Windows/Linux and computers does not even acknowledge that the card exists.
- FTK Imager, FTK, Encase, PhotoRec, Panda Recovery, Photo Rescue etc do not see it.
When the card is first inserted into a laptop SD slot, on the My Computer screen, a hard drive icon with a red ? shows up for a second (almost like it recognized it and needed to install drivers for it) but then the icon disappears with no sign of the SD card being available or acknowledged.
We need to get the photos off it. If any of the systems could see the card I would have a chance but so far… nada…. (
Appreciate any and all suggestions!
Thank you all.

I'm worried that the card is damaged (
Memory chips do die.
There are companies who will remove the memory from the physical case and work on it. I have no experience of the success rate
Can you access it as \\.\PhysycalDrive? ?
I mean what you are you using to access it?
Explorer?
What happens in Disk Management (or in diskpart)?
Nothing? Is this what you mean by

Hi Jaclaz
Yes - there is no physical drive visible at all.
- Not in disk management
- Not via FTK Imager or Encase Acquire
- Not via any Linux distro
It just doesn't show up (let alone show up as blank or empty or encrypted or the like).
Me thinks - like others do - that this SD card is dead (
Will have to look into services that transfer the chip and read it.
Thank you all for your input.
