Hiya,

What would be the best method taking (below) into circumstances to get voicemail off of a USA Iphone (I said USA because there was a European thread.

* Iphone (not Jailbroken)
* Believe to be 4 or 4S
* Windows system for the exam, no Mac system available
* Need dates intact so I was going to accomplish that with pictures of the visual VM and get the VM another way
* Do not have Oxygen or Cellebrite (Only put that in case there was a solution from those ways)

Googling the subject has brought up a few low cost solutions, but I wondering what everyone is using. Maybe the $50 options out there work fine, don't want to trust the few comments on the various download pages. If I buy it I'd like to buy it based on what you guys say.

Thanks everyone.

Greetings,

If you are looking for a quick and (not so dirty) way to get voicemails from an iOS device, you could try an application called "Phoneview". I use it for Forensic and personal use as well. It will show you the date and time the voicemail was left, the duration of the voicemail, the incoming phone number for the voicemail and the contact name. It will also let you extract the voicemails from the device.

Phoneview also lets you extract all sorts of other data from iOS devices such as contacts, notes, call logs, sms/mms messages, open safari windows and safari bookmarks, music, video, photos, voice memos. Perhaps best of all, the price is only $20. Keep in mind, this software was not designed with forensics in mind, but it can still be an extremely useful tool.

Here's a link Phoneview

Beyond that, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2012 also does a great job of extracting voicemails and presents you with plenty of information about them. I am a huge fan of Oxygen and I certainly recommend you get your hands on it if at all possible.

I hope this helps!

Kay, as you emphasise 'Windows'. Maybe start by searching the support.apple site and then use a search criteria for downloading voicemail

e.g. http//support.apple.com/kb/dl1466

e.g. http//support.apple.com/kb/TS3074

Hi Kay, extracting the .amr files to itunes must be possible without jailbreaking the iphone because here is a tool that extracts the voicemail from itunes backup

This may be a dead post for you, but if you have Paraben's Device Seizure I have seen it get active (and on a few rare cases, deleted) voicemails from iPhones up through the 4. Then you can extract the messages out (they're AMRs, as previously stated) and play them with FinalMediaPlayer or something else.

Cellebrite does have support for this (I know you don't have it, but I mention it in case anyone else happens upon this thread and does have it).

Examiners may be interested to know of another product that records iphone voicemails.

http//www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/

The website states

Archive Your iPhone Voicemail
PhoneView provides full access to your iPhone's voicemail messages. Click to play or send them right to iTunes. What's more, PhoneView will automatically archive your voicemail messages for offline listening. (Requires Visual Voicemail.)

Visual Voicemail

For Windows PC
