Hhhhhmmmm…blame it on Microsoft. I followed the link you provided, and also found my own were NTFS 5.0 is referenced:

Go figure, eh? I don't even think I want to pursue that one w/ the guys at MS….

In any case back to the GUID/HKey thingy - I'll ask some of my colleagues and contacts about the registry naming convention, and how the calculation is made.
