Problem with the hammer approach is the re-use of the device. wink
Zeroing it out with the appropriate manufacturer tool will eliminate the problem about Wear Leveling re-mapping of sectors.

OK thank you all for your input. )
mhhhh
a "joyfull cable"?
for those who don't know what a joyfull cable is.. well.. it's just a cable wich has this plug on a side
and this one on the other D D D
it has a lot of variants, you can modify it with an RJ45 too…
Sure, and what if you have NO mains where you need to "degauss" the USB thingy? ๐ฏ
Are you going to to use a disposable camera as an USB taser?

MacGyver was a kid in comparison…. 8)
The hammer is low technology, but quite effective…. wink
Seriously, there are good probabilities that by using a "mild" overvoltage of 240 V AC "something else" burns and not the actual Flash chip.

a friend of mine played it as a joke and told me that the pendrive actually started liquefying.
but this may depend on the pendrive model and brand.
oh.. and btw.. no matter what you do to destroy your USB flash drive…
McGuyver will fix it.
a friend of mine played it as a joke and told me that the pendrive actually started liquefying.
…after having bypassed the safeties on his main electrical box. roll
If you connect a device to mains in any "normal" household, the safety circuit breaker/RCCB will cut power off within something like 20รท25 ms

Usually not enough time to liquify anything….
…a hammer is still a better choice, a BIG hammer a better one.

This will work
This will work
Yep D , that's a standard procedure in Government Courses for high level security clearance you get a microwave oven and you let it drop flat on the USB device from 6 to 8 feet….. wink
