I've been using http//www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids as a reference for PID and VID entries in the \SYSTEM\ControlSetxxx\Enum\USB Registry key

Can anyone advise of any alternate reference sources ? Am asking as at least one PID/VID combination I've come across this morning isn't listed.

Am I right in thinking that there's no 'official' master-list out there? And even that information direct from manufacturers may not be 100% accurate?

The item in question has a PID/VID of 1410/5030 and is (according to its Friendly Name) a "Novatel Mass Storage USB Device" but isn't on the linux-usb.org listing.

That is the website I have used for some time. I don't know if there is a lookup service, but the Vendor IDs are issued to developers by the USB Implementers Forum

From your description, this sounds like one of the 3G USB Modems that has a built in Micro SD Card Slot integrated into it. There are a few examples on the Novatel website.

It looks as if the listing was last updated on 4/18.

Instead of looking for another site, why don't you offer up your findings to the folks who run the site? There's a name and email addr right there in the text file…I'm sure that they'd appreciate your offer.

YES. (
The thing is one of the most UNstandard standards around.
To get a VID you need to be a member of the USB "club", but nothing prevents you form "copying" an existing VID or "fake" one.
PID of course is free, which means that every manufacturer felt free to use "random" numbers.
To which you add that at least USB stick/hd controllers have programmable VID and PID's, and you can get an idea of the confusion.

JFYI
