The setup that you guys use are impressive. I love Macs but I dont use it for the core processing work.

For me, i'm using the HP elitebook 8450w with esata and USB3 ports. runs win7 64bit on an i7 with 16Gb of ram. one of the good about the 8450w is that you can attach a hard disk bay (HP call it upgrade bay) using the DVD ROM slot (removing it). its like a 2 hard disks laptop but restricted to 2.5inches type.

You can also add one more hard disk bay using the desk expandable dock (i dont have this yet)

Happy with the performance so far. anyone using the same setup?

I have top be honest, I have had nothing but pure luck running all of my tools on a MBP. This includes BootCamp and VMWare Fusion.

The ONLY caveat is you need to have the MBP in a cool environment. Now I have spent a lot of money on various "coolers" for the MBP, but the best one was the 20 dollar plastic one I bought at WallMart.

You will not be disappointed with the MBP, of that I can promise.

As a side note, I have both Parallels and Fusion and have found Fusion to be the better of the two VM's. When you run the VM's you will be driving the MBP hard, but it can take it.

Just remember to keep it cool.

Best,

Greetings,

1) Mac Pros, not Mac Book Pros.
2) You can add eSATA and extend it to the backplane.
3) You can boot them into Windows or OS X natively. Not able to do that with other hardware.

Even without a refresh, it is a seriously good machine. With a refresh, it will be an even better machine.
