I'm working on interpreting data from a Verizon cell phone and related towers/sites. The data from Verizon has the following columns
SWITCH
DATE TIME
ORIG C/G
TERM C/G
DIR
MDN
CALLED #
CPN
SZR
The definitions supplied say
ORIG C/G
This is the valid cell site for outgoing calls
VALID ONLY ON MO CALLS
and
TERM C/G
This is the valid cell site for an incoming call.
VALID ONLY ON MT CALLS
It seems to be that the "ORIG C/G" is where the call started and the
"TERM C/G" is site where the call ended. The notes on a written report indicate that this may not be the case. And that the "ORIG C/G" is only valid for "MO" calls and that the "TERM C/G" is only valid for "MT" calls.
If that logic holds then the system would only need one column for the "C/G" and not two. However, there are sites listed in both of the C/G columns for both types of calls.
Does anyone have further information on these types of records?
I understand that you are looking for help and answers, but what you are wanting is very technical in nature, why not hire an expert.
There are many great cell phone people on here.
Have you tried calling Verizon's Subpoena Compliance people and see if they can explain? Although I've never dealt with them specifically, I have called other Cellular providers' Sub compliance divisions with questions regarding the information in the records and so far (knock on wood) they have always been able to anser my questions satisfactorily. If they can't, they may be able to get you in contact with someone who coud…
Scott,
Here is the number for Verizon's LERT 1-800-451-5242 .
When I have called they have always been helpful and willing to answer questions. If they do not answer your question to your satisfaction let me know and I will give you the phone number for their Boss.
Cheers!

I have seen many many billing and call records over the years and nowadays the records tend to identify the start CellID on which the call commenced and the CellID on which the same call terminated for an ougoing call. That can be true also for an a CellID that handles the start of an incoming calls and a CellID that handles the termination of the same incoming call.
It is feasible though that
- A call record might be generated based upon a subscriber's outgoing call (MO) on the subscriber's account and only data that is detailed against the MO field showing only the start CellID for the outgoing call.
- A call record might be generated based upon a subscriber's receiving an incoming call (MT) to the subscriber's account and only data is detailed against the MT field showing only the start CellID for the incoming call.
