VMWare is moving towards a web based console - I've had a quick play with a beta version and it's terrible! No idea why they think only being able to control your virtual machines thorugh a browser is a good idea.

I recently found Virtual Box which is offered under the GNU General Public License ,runs just about any OS on any other OS and is a lot more intuitive than VMWare. Not tried it with any dongles as yet though.

Greetings,

VMware had a web based console for many years on Linux. I prefer the OS X application interface and hope they're not changing. And while I object to this "Manage everything via your browser" trend, I can see a lot of reasons that companies are encouraging this.

Guys,

We went with bootcamp here and so far so good, no problems (unlike VMWare where by we couldn't get FW to work) but now I have another question.

Does anyone know how to encrypt the Windows partition in this setup?

That's a bit of a thingie… I have the same setup and no product I know of can encrypt the whole partition while leaving Bootcamp functionality intact.

I know that PGP is working on an OSX-solution. Doubt it will work with Bootcamp though. So basically that leaves you with PGPDisk or a similar program, afaik.

Regards.

I've heard all responses referring to MacBook and MacBook Pro. Is anyone using the new iMacs, regular or Pro?

I use an IMac 2Ghz w 4 Gig RAM.
The 4 core tower gets the most work as it has the FW800 port.

I run an IMac 5.1 OSX 10.5 (Leopard) and VMWare Fusion - Very little issues running other OS such as Various Linux, XP, Vista Ultimate.
