Whoops - let me just hold off on that HardCopy 3 order for now….

Doug,

I am the CEO of Voom Technologies, Inc. We did file Chapter 11 reorganization. However, we are producing and delivering products, supporting products, developing new products, or, in other words, we are fully operational and nothing has changed that. The biggest change from the buyers' perspective is that we no longer have a contract with a certain distributor, "Amex, Inc." who was formerly doing business as "Voom International". That relationship ended July 23rd of this year. Unfortunately, Amex has been sending the false message after July 23rd to the marketplace that Voom was not delivering any product, and using our name "Voom" to deliver that message. VOOM is of course delivering and supporting product, all warranties are in force, and our products continue to improve. We just released firmware upgrade1-04 for the HardCopy 3, for example.

Voom is here, in business, to stay. Our products continue to improve, and we have some new and very exciting products under development.

Chapter 11 simply provides Voom with some temporary relief from debts until we put together a plan that the court approves, and also certain contracts have been rejected (such as the relationship with Amex, Inc).

All of our employees are still with Voom, and as dedicated as ever. It is tough economic times for many right now, but we have actually seen an increase in sales since terminating the relatinship with our former distributor and dealing directly with our resellers.

If you or anyone else has any questions, I encourage you to email me directly at davidwb@voomtech.com.

Thank you and Warm Regards,
David Biessener, CEO
Voom Technologies, Inc.

David,

Thanks for the update. Its pretty amazing that in a field where precision is important, so many folks don't really know or understand what chapter 11 means, and will comment on it anyway.

Good luck, and as a user of your products, I greatly appreciate what you're doing.

Thanks!

David,

Thanks for the update, it's a sigh of relief for me especially after making such a large investment in your products. We'll have to catchup again sometime about my 'MD5' hardcopy 3's.

Good luck!

PS - I hit 6.6GB/min on a HC3 the other day which I never thought i'd see (clone, SHA disabled) Awesome!

David,

I must apologize for my earlier response - that was a bad joke unfairly playing on public misconception of what a Chapter 11 really means. As Harlan said, we are in a field of truth and precision and a comment such as mine is unbecoming of the merits of honesty that I try to promote in myself and those who work with me.

Chapter 11 as designed to allow a company to continue to operate as is reorganizes (unlike Chapter 7 that is designed for an organizations liquidation). Many very large and public companies have undergone the process and come out much further ahead.

I actually still plan on getting a HC3 in the next few weeks as it is a great product. I certainly support your efforts in the field of computer forensics and data recovery.

Please except my humblest apologies for a comment that certainly does not help a company in an already stressful position.

Doug

Hi to All,

As CEO of Voom Technologies, I'd like to provide another update regarding the status of Voom.

As of February, 2010, Voom's Reorganization Plan was confirmed by the court, and Voom is no longer considered to be in Chapter 11. Having been an industry innovator for the last 10 years, Voom has emerged stronger than ever, and we are looking forward to a bright future.

I would like to personally thank all of our customers for the confidence they have demonstrated during this time by continuing to choose Voom products.

I would also like to thank the bloggers here on Forensic Focus for their support, as well. Doug, I especially thank you for your kind and supportive response to my earlier post.

For all of our HardCopy 3 users, please visit our website at www.voomtech.com for a firmware update (version 2-00a) that was released on March 18th, 2010.

You can download this update by clicking the "Support" tab and selecting "Firmware Updates." This update has two parts. The first incorporates the previous update that loads the HC3 with both SHA256 and MD5 verification (user selectable from the HC3 menu). If that update has already been successfully completed, users can proceed directly to the second part that addresses some HDD's of which we were made aware that deviate slightly from the standard SATA specs specifically related to DCO's. (Update instructions can be found in the Release Notes. If you need assistance, please call 651-998-1618 for tech support.)

Again, Many Thanks and Warm Regards,
David Biessener, CEO
Voom Technologies, Inc.
