Lets start to look at the DRS Driver Readiness Sensor (optical). Where is he located and what forensics evidence we can take out post-crash? Was the driver ignoring to make a break even the DRS alerted to do so? The legal aspect we leave aside.

On our test car Audi A8 AI we find the RDS is linked to the Nvidia K1

http//www.nvidia.com/object/tegra-k1-processor.html

No sure what the K stands for, may Kepler. On this site we recognize the hint towards Audi.
But what can we take out of this GPU IC? Should have kind of dedicated RAM, right? Where on the zFAS is the RAM located to run forensics? Your homework.

Here we see at the Automotive Partners, that its worth focusing on Nvidia in car forensics.

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/self-driving-cars/

Few questions remain

1# Is the car building a profile of the drivers (behavior learning)?
2# Are there unintended consequences by false positives of the DRS?
3# What really proofs the DRS to undermine a post-crash analysis?
4# Do car insurers have access to the DRS data post-crash?
5# By wiresharking the car-eSIM-modem how can you split between in-car/in-cloud?

Happy learning! Become an expert -)

Always open for feeback, as I am a learner/failuremaker too.

The Audi A7 Sportback 2018 version has promoted 39 ADAS and 24 sensors. Now you Find out which of these are relevant for an accident like this

An A7 drives in the city behind a public transport bus. As the bus turns into a bus stop the A7 turns to the left and overhauls the bus but after he smashes a pedestrian walking over the pedestrian way and kills him. The average speed was 53km/h and speed limit was 50km/h. Street was wet and there was some rain. Temperature was below 0°C exactly by -3°C. Daylight at 0630h UTC and with location here

https://www.google.ch/maps/@47.3851598,8.5171605,3a,75y,23.71h,90t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sG0hrf1QV0Uv396tNHAoTgw!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo0.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DG0hrf1QV0Uv396tNHAoTgw%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dsearch.TACTILE.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D96%26h%3D64%26yaw%3D23.705387%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656

The driver blames the manufacturer Audi of malfunctioning of the brandnew A7 top model.

Which is the most important data you immediately (Gold first) collect? What data can the car manufacturer deliver and what data do you have to collect yourself?

Which protocols where in use and where are their logs stored (in-vehicle, car-cloud, eCall)?

Happy learning. Questions and critics welcomed especially from jaclaz -)

Many new cars cut-off the battery in case of an accident by the Airbag-Gateway. It is an open question which sensors 'had' data important for evidence which gets lost after battery-safety-cut-off.

Is this a standard in the U.S. or EU to cut-off the batteries?

Depending on where this accident took place (US or EU), any relevant crash data could be saved in the airbag control module (ACM). By crash data I mean, pre-crash data -5 to 0 seconds (speed, accelerator pedal, engine rpm, steering input, etc.).

This depends on location for one major reason, a pedestrian collision will normally not cause a delta-v large enough to be sensed by an ACM unless it is equipped with a Pedestrian Protection System (PPS). PPS has unfortunately not made its way into the US yet or at least not to the extent seen in EU.

What type of sensors are you referring too? Mechanical/electrical sensors pertaining to vehicle function don't store data internally. That data is distributed across the CAN bus for the various ECU's to interpret and adjust. This is the source of data you would find in an ACM also.

Airbag Gateway aka ACM store sensor and bag timeline. But what about all other cams, ultra-sonic sensors and RADAR/LIDAR systems? To resolve car crashes I search for as much as possible evidence of ALL sensors and car functions to get the WHOLE picture.

The eCall modul itself also collects data pre-crash and transmits them as MSD to the PSAP.

Lets differentiate between

Data-in-motion
Data-at-rest

Data-in-car-motion
Data-in-car-rest
Data-CarCloud-motion
Data-CarCloud-rest

The industry stays silent and collects BigData. There is BigData but not accessible actually.

I see now. Your based in EU, my mistake. These intelligent telematics systems have not made their way into the US yet.

We can switch over to the Tesla S 100D for further learning (W2L? Want 2 Learn?). Do have a link to all wiring diagrams of Tesla S (would help here for all to learn openly)?

Who in the U.S. has experience with Tesla postcrash recertification and reactivation? All the Texas flood cars e.g. ?
