Hello,

I am trying to do some testing to ascertain whether a URL that is tagged is a redirect (REDR) is the originating webpage or the one the user was redirected to.

For example, if the index.dat file says "www.webpage-for-bad-guys.com" does this mean my suspect typed "www.webpage-for-bad-guys.com" and was taken somewhere else or did he type "www.innocentwebpage.com" and was redirected to "www.webpage-for-bad-guys.com".

When I used IE v9 with a Win7 OS and IE v8 with XP I was unable to recreate the REDR flag in the index.dat file. Alll my webpages, including those that were redirect to, were flagged as URL.

This is concerning to me and I'm HOPING I have done something incorrect because if index.dats are not consistently differentiating between visited links and those that a user has been redirected to…. 😯

Can anyone help me? Shed some light? Offer an opinion? Make a passing comment?

Any of the above would be lovely,

Thanks
–Sheona
