What do you have for software on your laptop?

Tom

X-Ways Forensics, WinHex, EnCase 6 and 7, Internet Evidence Finder, LogMeIn, WiTopia, 7Zip, Office 2013, FTK Imager, Kernel for Exchange, Proof Finder, WinDirStat, Oxygen Forensic, AccessData Mobile Phone Examiner Plus, Eraser, CCleaner, F-Response Tactical, VirtualBox, TrueCrypt, Tableau Imager and lots of other little utilities. Looking at the list reminds me of what an expensive business this is…

Ha ha yes it is expensive. Forgive the ignorant question, but what is true crypt for?

I carry a Cellebrite UFED Ultimate, Tableau Ultrablocks, several external HDD's, Paladin 4 Boot disks, portable external internet connection, and a MacBook Pro as main pieces of equipment in my vehicle.

On the PC side
*LONG LIST OF STUFF*

On the Mac side
*LONG LIST OF STUFF*

There are many others for both sides. This is a complicated listing of tools and I am working to get it condensed. We are looking to pick up iLook and X-Ways at the fiscal year. This should help some with field work.

I want a budget like that! )

The nice thing about the sager is it weighs about 7 lbs. Not bad for an ivy bridge based machine with all the bells

It's been a very long road to get each and every piece of kit I have don't let the list fool you. Some was paid for out of my pocket, some from grants, some from various task forces, and some from good old fashioned begging. I have a boss now who sees the true value in forensic exams and is helping to keep the unit running during these financial hard times.

Plenty of information about TrueCrypt on its website.

Essentially you create a TrueCrypt volume (either an entire disk/partition or a container file), mount that volume, and then use it exactly like you would an unencrypted disk.

I don't use it for work that I'm going to review in-house. I only use it when I'm doing a collection that I need to ship to someone else - e.g. if I'm only working the collection for an out of state firm. I tend to find that full disk is simpler.
