Forgive me for perhaps being a bit nieve but why would you get shot down in court for using ILook out of interest (and for anyone else reading this who may not know)? Is this specific to version 7?

From what I understand, there isn't as such a failing with ILook. The state concerned did not produce ILook for the defence as requested by the court and actually performed the forensic investigation again but with Encase.

Several years ago, I was presenting at a conference, and a member of law enforcement informed me that ILook 7.x, while certified for use by at least one federal LE agency, was not Unicode-compliant. A Win98 system had a file system with Cyrillic characters in the name of one of the directories, and ILook 7.x couldn't see it.

This is second-hand info, so take it for what it's worth. I don't use ILook, so I can't speak to the issue.
