whatsapp and android

in a samsung android. no sd card, there's is installed whatsapp. But I don't find the /com.whatsapp/
So I can't find the key. Which the correct location of the wahtsapp software? I can't root the device.

I don't remember exactly about the privileges specifically related to whatsapp, but i think that to access the databases and the keys, you need to run in the context of the whatsapp application or as root user.

otherwise you can backup the whatsapp conversations, but they'd be encrypted and you'd need the encryption key, for which retrival you require to be root or run in the context of the whatsapp application

Indeed the whatsapp databases can be found in data/data/files/com.whatsapp. To access this folder you need to root the device.
The only other way you have is using a third party tool like for example WhatsApp-Key-DB-Extractor. However just like rooting this isnt maybe forensically sound, it install an old version of whatsapp and this gives you the ability to get the key through an ADB back-up.
