Has anybody done any throughput comparisons between the Wiebetech and the Tableau?
Greetings,
Which versions?
I did compare the Tableau USB write blocker and found it wanting. (Details posted elsewhere on the forum.) I've not done any side by side comparison of similar products a) due to lack of time and b) due to a lot of other variables, but mostly due to "a".

I have the tableau USB write blocker and I have also found it somewhat painful. When it works it works great but it does not support many device types. If you get one make sure you pickup a sinle to double USB adapter. This will help with some external hard drives that need more power.
Be sure to check NIST's tool-testing reports as well

I recently acquired the Tableau USB write blocker and have had great success with it so far. No issues with device recognition (yet). I have a new Wiebetech Ultradock on the way, should be here in the next day or two, so can't say anything about that yet.

I have a beef - albeit nitpicky - with the Tableau T8. If the little plastic square on the side of the unit breaks away, the pins could shift and render the unit ineffective.

I have another beef, which is the USB 2.0 connector on the device. It appears to only be held in place by the soldered connectors and when the device is cold (it does get cold here in the Northeast), these can break.
That happened to me less than 6 months after getting mine and not wanting to take it apart (for obvious reasons), I wrote the vendor for a replacement and got no response.
Needless to say, given the price of the device I'll look elsewhere for a replacement.
Note to hardware vendors I don't mind having interfaces connected only by soldered leads in things like desktops (which are rarely moved), but in devices which get frequent use and are supposed to be portable, this is simply not acceptable.
We use Tableaus and have had several fail over the past year or so (IDE and SATA primarily). There is a 12 month warranty on the items we buy from dataduplication (UK), and any failed ones within this 12 month period have been replaced free of charge.
I agree with gtorgersen in that they do not work with all USB devices however.
