We are currently using Windows Vista Ultimate on our forensic worktations. I was starting to think about updating those machines to Windows 7 now that both Encase and FTK support Windows 7.
The problem is that our company has a volume licence for Windows 7 Enterprise, not Ultimate.
My question is As forensic examiners, do we really have to use the Ultimate version of Windows Vista / 7 or is the Enterprise version also good?
You also need to consider that many examiners are reporting the the Oracle component of FTK 2/3 is not installing under Windows 7.
You are right, thank you.
According to AccessData, the next release of FTK 3 should work with Windows 7.
I always run the Oracle component on a separate server for performance (and redundancy) purposes.
How many users to you have working on your Oracle server ? What is the configuration of your server?
I'm having douts about performance issues when multiple users are working on the same Oracle server with such an IO extensive task as FTK.
