Hi,

I am currently at the early stages of planning my Final year project that i aim to complete on Private Browsing.

I have noticed that since the arrival of windows 8 and version 10 internet explorer, that Microsoft have changed the storage of their internet history files… and steered away from using index.dat.

I just wondered if anybody had any advice or information about any changes that have emerged in how the system stores browser information, and why index.dat is no longer used like in earlier windows versions?

Thank you )

I am not sure to understand the question (actually I am pretty sure I don't understand it).

More than "Windows 8" it is Internet Explorer 10 that has changed some rules of the game AFAIK, and this has already been the object of quite a few articles/insights, like (examples)

Why would the good MS guys change something? 😯
The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind … roll

Why would they completely fail to document properly anything they make (and/or possibly mis-document it)?
To let us have a lot of fun in finding how it works really. )
