I currently have a requirement to write my own Windows Link/Shortcut (*.lnk) file parser, so I did some Internet research and came up with a few papers that documented some aspects of the LNK file binary structure. These papers were also referenced in a number of different existing parsers.

However, I stumbled upon an actual paper from MS that provides an as complete specification as there is. It was last updated on the 6th Nov 2009, so pretty recent!

It appears to have been released due to "Open Specifications" process that I guess is due to some anti-competitive ruling, anyway it makes writing a parser easier and I thought may be interesting to people who work at the binary level of files.
