I have a case where I have to reveal whether the windows xp installed is licenced or not? I have the product key on the CD label, so I have to compare this number to the one on the hard drive.

However, in registry we have the Product ID not the product key. there are many tools out there which reveal the Product Key however they require booting. Neither the hard drive nor the image boots.

So, does anybody know where can I find out the product key in a windows xp hdd, where booting by vlc player is not possible? And I examined the registry and I have found out the Product ID but not Product Key.

Any help is appreciated

This tool from Nirsoft runs on an extracted registry file, though it doesn't appear to state the location of where the key is coming from.

Thank you for the help. I used it already however it freezes and remains like that, and can not recover the product key. I dont know why.
