Hello,
Can anyone introduced a tool for wiping free space on Android?

Thank you.

On Stackoverflow, I believe the security section, people posted that despite using highly rated tools from PlayStore they would at most distort the quality of a deleted picture.

The best solution is to ensure your phone has a long password, and it is powered off before it gets seized/stolen. This would stop anyone even seeing the free space.

Also, what is "free space"?
Free space in the filesystem(s)? ?

I mean, let's say that you save lolcat or meerkat images (and/or install apps) on the phone until there is no free space left, i.e. filling it up to the brim, and then you delete all these files "normally".

What will "they" be able to recover? ?

How about Web Page Name?

Three possibilities
1) it works properly
2) it doesn't work properly
3) it somewhat works properly

More or less - generically speaking - tools/program have these percentages
1) 70%
2) 5%
3) 25%

Most probably speaking of something made by "Palmtronix", which you do not know, that has not a web site (actually reportedly has one but that is empty/badly configured)
https://www.appbrain.com/dev/PalmTronix/
http//www.palmtronix.com/
btw registered by proxy (i.e. anonimous)
https://www.whois.com/whois/palmtronix.com

Which has actually a page under
http//apps.palmtronix.com/shreddit/android/

Where they babble about standards implemented in the app (besides the more general techno-babble[1] on the page)

  • British HMG IS5 (3 pass)
  • US DoD 5220.22 (3 pass)
  • German VSITR (7 pass)
  • Russian GOST P50739 (2 pass)
  • Bruce Schneier (7 pass)
  • NIST 800-88 (2 pass)
  • One Filler (Secure Erase)
  • Zero Filler (Secure Erase)
  • Random Filler (Pseudo Random Numbers)

(of which 2/3 to 3/4 make no sense whatsoever in the specific context)

I would be more prone to believe that percentages are more similar to
1) 10%
2) 5%
3) 85%

Hey, it is your data, you are free to destroy it (or completely fail at it) using any software you choose to use.

[1] This is worth of note

SHREDDIT is a data eraser which securely deletes files leaving them irrecoverable. This tool erases your data completely and protects falling into malicious hands. It deploys quick shredding algorithm which shreds huge data volumes PERMANENTLY in matter of seconds. The technique especially designed to work for devices internal and external storage with optimized window (buffer) sizes to shred data with efficiency and reliably.

The software uses chip (on board processor) smartly for data shredding yielding greater time efficiency while erasing. This software has no background service and hence no overhead and perfectly safe to keep in your tool-set.
