I have the ICS Drive Lock, and it does work well for IDE to IDE write blocking. I know you could use an adapter to take it from IDE TO SATA using Logicubes IDE To SATA Drive bridge and affectively have a IDE TO SATA write block. I am not sure how much you want to stack Adapters.

For Imaging now I use a validated process of using a especially compiled linux kernel that I know will not write to my drives and do my Imaging using a PCMCIA SATA card and two SATA to IDE adapters (not hardware write blocked). I don't know what speeds other people are getting but Imaging an 80 gig IDE drive to a 120 gig IDE drive in about 62 minutes is not bad and much faster than the Fire Wire method. Running SATA to SATA I get a little better performance, but then it is limited to my PCMCIA card which is not SATA II like the drives I am imaging. (express card might also show some improved speed)

I recently spoke with James Wiebe at WiebeTech and let him know that this is a product that we need (SATA to SATA hardware write blocking). Apparently this is not an easy task. I also spoke with Tableau, the people at Silicon Forensics, Voom, Digital Intelligence and Forensic Computers. Wiebetech and Forensic Computers stated they would let me know when something like this hits the market.

Right now I am using the following with a SATA PCMCIA card with no Write protection at the hardware level.

As soon as I hear something from one of the vendors about an Inline write blocking solution for SATA I will post it.

Good point. I also have a Logicube Talon and have been able to get some good imaging times out of it. However I am not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but if the source drive has any issues, then the Logicube Errors out. I am using the md5disk-v option and have it set to pad the bad sectors with zeros so the hashes match what Encase would give on the same drive. Sorry I know this is a bit off topic.
