Just following on from what has already been said, a close friend also got approached on the same basis. He was asked for his credit card details so that they could take the payment. However no payment was taken but his Credit Card details were sold on. The scam is really about stealing personal details and obaining Credit Card details which are then sold on to other crooks. x

If I may; I have personal experience of this scam. The purpose of the scam was to steal the credit card details of the unsuspecting target which could then be sold on.

A close friend was taken in by this scam and gave his card details over the phone. Fortunately his daughter intervened and they contact his bank. The money was not taken from his account but according to the bank the details are sold on to other crooks.

logmein123 and others use this scam.. one of my family members was recently called by someone claiming to be from their ISP's tech support. A quick glance at the pc showed that the caller had them run event viewer and then go to logmein123 website, gave them a login and then installed a program. Essentially it turned on the hidden attribute to hide icons / files..

If you go to YouTube, there are a lot of videos where people are reversing the troll )
