I would hope if there is such a huge effort to nail the BBC, there would be even more of an effort to stop the people they got it off.
Did they break the law though? I am not in a postion to say but it definatly seems in the wrong. It should be the police doing that type of thing not the media.
Pottah, of course it is easier to nail the BBC rather than the botherders.
The BBC is UK-based, the botherders are in a different country which does not (to my knowledge, at least) have the same laws as the UK.
So, the easy target is the BBC, which is nice and good since the UK is also going though a shakedown on the type of content television and radio broadcasters are allowed to broadcast (I live for the day and time Big Brother and X-Factor get outlawed!! LOL!).
The answer to your question of whether they broke the law or not, as another member has very rightly pointed out, is for the courts to decide, not us. We can only express opinions based on our understanding of what has been made public about the case.

If anyone is organising a cybercrime conference this year, I am sure Terry Waite would love to do a session on hacking and the law.
