They really expecting this to work? Seems like an internet scare to me… I personally see it as an ultimate solution but in the long run, if we want to share something with friends, we'll make it happen regardless.

Whether it's online, or maybe setting up a new encryption system as to how people send/receive files. It'll always happen.

It is not just a scare if they act on it.

Well I could see them acting on a few individuals, but on a large scale, I don't think this tatic would work. Has anyone on this forum thought of a way to control illegal file sharing?

To me, a definite mechanic in stopping it will ultimately be the ISP. Question is how do you develop a method to mine data without invading privacy of others?

Be a nice to see them go high scale with an idea to eliminate a good deal of file sharing. However, like I said earlier, I think if someone really wants to share something, they really can't be stopped… easily.

It reminds me of a project that I did recently in class about gun control and murder. Murder will still happen regardless if guns are in or out of the picture. Don't get me wrong, their was a decline in murders in a 36 week experiment in Kansas. Because now it was harder for someone to kill the other guy. So yeah.. long as the intent is there, gonna be hard to stop.
