BlackBag Technologies, Inc. Announces MacQuisition(TM) 2013.R1 Software Release

BlackBag Technologies, Inc., a leading developer of Mac OS X, iPhone, and iPad forensics software and training solutions, today announced the release of MacQuisition 2013.R1, the most comprehensive Mac OS X forensic imaging and data collection tool available on the market to date. This release includes an innovative new process specifically designed to resolve previous GUI-based forensic data acquisition challenges associated with the latest Apple computer models.“Due to hardware updates that shipped with Apple’s newer Macintosh computers, forensic investigators had to rely on various data acquisition workarounds, such as placing the source computer in Target Disk Mode prior to imaging, or using the MacQuisition Command Line Interface,” said Derrick Donnelly, CTO for BlackBag Technologies. “Our research and development team did a great job realizing and implementing a new process that solves this issue and allows investigators to acquire data from late-model Mac computers using the MacQuisition GUI interface.”

MacQuisition 2013 R.1 continues to support legacy Mac computers, and adds full GUI-based data triage and acquisition support for mid-2011 MacBook Air and Mac Mini computers, along with 2012 MacBook Air, Mac Mini, iMac, and MacBook Pro with Retina display computers.

“We are thrilled to deliver MacQuisition 2013 R.1 to our customers,” said Paul Jordan, Vice President of Corporate Development for BlackBag Technologies. “Our product has been in the past, and continues to be, the most elegant and comprehensive Mac OS X forensic data acquisition software on the market.”

MacQuisition is developed by leading Mac forensic analysts as a lightweight, portable tool that forensically images and collects data from over 185 Mac, iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Xserve computer models. MacQuisition addresses the forensic examiner’s greatest challenge of “too much data and too little time” by combining comprehensive data triage and targeted file collection capabilities with a robust full-disk imaging solution.
