About James Butterworth
With a career distinguished by 20 years of highly-decorated service to the United States Navy, and 15 years of hands-on experience in computer network, James Butterworth is Vice President of Services for HBGary, Inc. Prior to joining HBGary, Inc., Mr. Butterworth was Senior Director of Cyber Security for Guidance Software, Inc. In this position, he was responsible for conducting incident response and forensic examinations in support of federal, corporate, civil and law enforcement investigations, and he performed forensic analysis on literally thousands of computers and removable devices.

Mr. Butterworth joined Guidance Software in January 2004 after completing 20 years of service with the U.S. Navy where he served as a computer network defense and intrusion analyst for the Fleet Information Warfare Center. In this capacity, he assisted in the development of tactics, techniques and procedures of afloat network defense. Mr. Butterworth has authored the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Incident Response Policy for Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe and Forensic Investigation Standard Operating Procedure for NATO Headquarters. He has conducted high profile and classified investigations for both the Secretary of Defense and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Mr. Butterworth is a skilled speaker who has lectured in national and international forums including the Computer and Enterprise Investigations Conference (CEIC), CSI NetSec and the Department of Defense International Computer Crime Conference in Germany. As an authority in evidence seizure, data recovery and corporate policy enforcement to ensure data integrity during investigations, his expert testimony has been crucial in cases from the Superior Courts of the State of California to the Court of Chancery of the State of Delaware. He has performed permissive and court ordered non-permissive seizure, data extraction and replication, emergency recovery, and forensic analysis for criminal, domestic abuse and child exploitation investigations.

In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Butterworth holds well-respected industry certifications including Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), SANS GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst, Certified Systems and Network Auditor, Certified Reverse Engineer, and EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE). Mr. Butterworth is a member of the High Technology Crime Investigation Association, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Disabled American Veterans and the Information Systems Security Association. Mr. Butterworth is on the faculty of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners as well as the SANS Advisory Panel.

About Sam Maccherola
With more than 20 years of commercial and government sales and program development experience within the information technology and systems integration industry, Sam Maccherola is Vice President of Worldwide Sales for HBGary, Inc. Previously, he was Vice President & General Manager, Public Sector Worldwide for Guidance Software, Inc. In this position, he was responsible for managing the global strategic direction, as well as operational, sales, and business development for Guidance Software’s growing federal business practice in North America and internationally.

Prior to joining Guidance Software, Mr. Maccherola served as Senior Vice President of World Wide Sales for Simdesk Technologies, where he was responsible for overall strategic direction, as well as operations, sales and marketing components Worldwide. Previously, he was President of Tenix America and Vice President of Public Sector Sales for Tripwire, Inc. He also held senior management positions with SeeBeyond, Tumbleweed, Entrust Technologies, Inc., PLATINUM Technologies, Inc., and Legent Corporation.

In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Maccherola was recognized as one of the 100 people in Government and Industry that made a positive difference in Government IT by a panel of Government and Industry leaders. Mr. Maccherola is an active participant in many associations that promote public-private sector information sharing and partnerships. Currently, he is a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA). Maccherola has also chaired the software special interest group for the American Council for Technology/Industry Advisory Council (ACT/IAC) and has been active in the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA).
