Passware Kit 2024v1: Redesigned Distributed Password Recovery

Efficiently distributing password recovery tasks across high-performance hardware clusters stands out as a crucial feature that helps computer forensics decrypt electronic evidence in the shortest possible time. In its latest release of the year, Passware prioritizes the enhancement of this feature and introduces the redesigned Distributed Password Recovery option in its Kit Forensic 2024 v1.

The new Distributed Password Recovery empowers users to remotely control all the Passware Kit Agents within their network directly from the PKF. It improves the management of the Agent assignment, connection settings, update options, hardware usage, GPU utilization level, and other configurations. Multiple password recovery attacks are now run simultaneously, reducing the GPU idle time.

Passware also adds GPU acceleration for EFI password recovery, for Macs both with and without a T2 chip, which is now available in its Device Decryption Add-on and Passware Kit Ultimate.

Passware extends support for Intuit QuickBooks by introducing compatibility with the newly released version 2024.

What’s New in Passware Kit 2024 v1:

  • Distributed Password Recovery: remote management of the Agents
  • Distributed Password Recovery: detailed reports and logging
  • Running password recovery attacks simultaneously
  • GPU-accelerated recovery of Mac EFI passwords

Distributed Password Recovery: remote management of the Agents

The new Distributed Password Recovery empowers users to remotely control all the Passware Kit Agents within their network directly from the PKF. It improves the management of the Agent assignment, connection settings, update options, hardware usage, GPU utilization level, and other configurations.

The distributed computing cluster now works seamlessly in the environment with VPN and multiple IP addresses for the Agents.

Distributed Password Recovery: detailed reports and logging

Each Passware Kit Agent now provides detailed reports and features an extended status list for monitoring and precise troubleshooting.

The Distributed Password Recovery logging system has been extended with a new Network log in the Tools menu that reports all the network events.

Running password recovery attacks simultaneously

Passware Kit 2024 v1 now runs password recovery attacks in parallel, i.e. if multiple attacks are set, each attack begins without waiting for the previous attack to complete. This minimizes hardware idle time and optimizes the management of the computational resources.

GPU-accelerated recovery of Mac EFI passwords

Passware Kit Device Decryption Add-on introduces the recovery of EFI passwords for Intel-based Macs without a T2 chip by analyzing the SPI flash images.

The firmware passwords are now recovered using GPU acceleration for Macs both with and without a T2 chip reaching 11,000 passwords per second on AMD RX 6900 XT.

Decryption of QuickBooks 2024 databases

Passware extends support for Intuit QuickBooks by introducing compatibility with the newly released version 2024 for Windows. This feature includes instant decryption and GPU-accelerated password recovery for QuickBooks 2024 databases with a performance of over 1.3 M passwords per second on NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti or AMD RX 6900 XT.

New product icons

Passware software products, including Passware Kit Agents, now feature redesigned icons on both Windows and macOS to bring them to a cohesive style.
