About Me
I am a retired law enforcement officer with an advanced rating, a law enforcement professional instructor, and a field training officer certified through the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training. I am an Internet investigator certified through the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I am a digital evidence examiner certified through the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (Certified Forensic Computer Examiner #15255). I hold proprietary certifications for the P2P Marshal and Mac Marshal forensic suites (ATC-NY #000-689 and #000-708 respectively). I am a system, network, and security administrator who has held certifications in this area (CompTIA A+ #COMP001020653473). I also hold other, possibly less relevant certifications as well.
I have written several forensic software applications, including Carnivore Systems, in C, C++, bash, Python, and PostgreSQL. I contribute to the Autopsy forensic suite project focusing on *NIX ports. I have been a web designer/developer since 1999, both client-side and server-side, and am currently proficient in HTML5, CSS 2.1 & 3, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL. My design tools include Inkscape, GIMP, Blender, and others. I have designed, built, and maintained multiple networks, both with and without servers, since 2004 and am a proficient system, network, and security administrator. My emphasis has been on GNU/Linux systems/networks since 2011.
In addition, one of my investigations was previously featured on A&E's "Cold Case Files" in 2006. The case involved the murder of a Beebe, Arkansas police officer in 1977 that had grown cold. I was tasked in 2001 to review the case file and conduct follow up if there was potential. In the end, a primary suspect was identified, arrested, and convicted 24 years later. The episode is titled "The Sting Operation" and still airs occasionally.
