Does anyone know if I can purchase one of these of my own back, or do they only give them out to companies? I am training myself to become ENCE, but the courses are a little on the expensive side without it.

Thanks

Pretty sure anyone can purchase the Passport if you really want to http//www.guidancesoftware.com/computer-forensics-training-annual-training-passport.htm

I think I might go for self-education before shelling out $5K from my own pocket, though.

Thanks Geoff,

Could you give me some pointers or direction on the self education.

Regards

They'd train my Gran's cat if it paid them lol

Seriously, I have sat next to one guy on a couple of my courses who purchased his own passport, so the answer is yes.

Whether I would self-fund it is another matter. I'd err towards vendor-independent training personally and use that to teach myself EnCase, etc.

You'll see a lot of really good books mentioned in various places on this forum and popular forensics blogs. Reading never hurts. )

If its just for the EnCE rather than overall knowledge, Steve Buntings EnCE book is all you'd need really imo. If you have no problem with all the example tests that come with it, you'll do fine in the real thing, they're very similar.
