Hey there…our lab will be involved in imaging a POS system soon. Just wondering if anyone had any experience imaging one.
What OSs do they typically have?
Can you use coventional computer forensic methodology acquiring a POS image?
What about reading the file structure?
thanks..

You mean POS as Post of Sale System. Systems that you may find in your retail shop?

Depending on the software used. these system are usually a customised version of Windows or Linux. which means the underlying hard disks uses any of the well known file systems.

ya…its 'point of sales' systems; the ones you find at the retail stores.
And if it does use windows or linux…then we should have no issue. I'm not sure if a POS would have AS/400 but, do how would you go about imaging a as/400 mainframe?

I recently looked at an older (6-7 years) HP with Unix.
