I have done a test to see if it is possible to gather last author information from a CSV file. I created it on a PC and also on a Mac laptop, and then analyzed it in EnCase, FTK, and using meta viewer and all that showed up were the modified, accessed, and created times. Im curious to know if any one else has come across this of CSV files containing author information, or do they not contain author information at all? Thanks a lot.
I regret to say that CSV files contain only the data and nothing else, they don't even have a standard file signature. You may be able to show ownership by where it is located on the partition or by looking at the file table but metadata is not going to be recoverable from the file itself.
Thanks a lot

CSV is a flat text file, not OLE or structured storage, and as such does not contain the metadata you're interested in.
However, if you open the CSV file in Excel and then save it as an .xls file, you may have access to metadata.
