I've found artifacts of Cygwin in unallocated space. The program was once installed in the root of C\ rather than under a specific user's profile. The program is gone and, despite my best efforts, I can't locate anything significant to report on - mostly based on my ignorance of the program.
Can anyone offer suggestions of literature or websites that would explain/decipher/decode my Cygwin mystery? If all the evidence of the program are in unallocated space is there any way to determine what commands were used, when it was installed/uninstalled, who installed it, or from where it was installed?
I've installed it on a test box, run commands, and uninstalled the program but am unable (again thanks to my ignorance) to locate the timestamps and location of download …
Aaargh.
