I remember during the launch of v7, it was mentioned that unless you acquire evidence then you may not have full use of all the functions and processes.
Not currently having v7, I was curious as to whether this was still the case.
Do you have to acquire the evidence to get full functionality?
It is a bit complicated since v7 is still getting new features ..
better to say in developement …
some functions and features like in case procesor etc works only once
and can not be redone for same evidence, this so called "feature" is in change
Yes that is still the case. Although we have got v7, we still prefer to use v6.19. We have disappointed in v7, it is not worth upgrading. Hope, they will improve it.
I used the v7 preview and I have to be honest I am surprised Guidance made this move.
The main screen on v7 is laid out very differently and the menus/options are in very different places.
This, to me, gives me the feeling that I am using a different tool. If that's the case, will users think 'why am I paying for a new software and will require the appropriate training when I can continue using the older version?' or 'I would rather continue with v6 of Encase and FTK than be trained in 2 versions of Encase?'
Of course, Guidance no longer train v6…
Is it me or was this a bad move?
