Ok, so i have a 500GB ext hard drive which was fully encrypted by bitlocker. The file system was accidentally deleted and about 80GBs of the data was overwritten. Is there any way to recover any data from the encrypted partition?
Do you mean that the internal boot drive associated with the external drive was overwritten?
Do you know how authentication was being done for the encrypted drive? e.g. TPM, USB based key? Do you have the password / certificate, etc.. or is that also unknown?
If you really mean that you have the the first 80GB trashed, of the 500GB encrypted drive, and no password, then I would be thinking you don't have much chance of recovery.
ok, although i took over a year to reply the case is it was my external drive so i have all the data needed, the problem is that the drive was encrypted, the partition was dropped and 80GB of data was overwritten. The question would be could i rebuild the drive so that it could be mounted to recover the files or is there any other way i could recover some of the data
