encryption file; YEAY or NAY??

Hello guys. I’m new here. I’m working in administrative department and due to one major incident involving data theft and unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information, my company want to setup digital forensic investigation team. I have zero knowledge on digital forensic investigation, and due to incident happen, 1 of my colleague suggested to encrypt all file and document in our organization in term of security level. can anyone advice me the benefit and consequences of encryption file before i proceed to the higher level. thank you in advance

Anyway generally speaking "encryption" in itself is a terribly wrong idea.

Encryption is a "tool" not a "solution" to any problem, and if not properly and thoroughly thought of and implemented it is likely to create lots of problems without actually increasing much security.

Properly managed encryption in the context of data security awareness is one thing, simply blindly encrypting everything without a plan (and particularly safe, double and triple checked backup and replication strategy for data) is likely to bring an organization on its knees in case any minor accident happens (of course it depends on how well the data is secured before and besides encryption).

Who is the "partner"?
