Apple's TrueDepth camera in iPhone X collects 30k data points and adapts over time

https://media1.popsugar-assets.com/files/thumbor/_NBOJ3re0hfkibbirga7OFZGY4Y/fit-in/1024x1024/filtersformat_auto-!!-strip_icc-!!-/2017/09/12/867/n/38761221/9f3112d33f2bf690_6/i/Face-ID-has-taken-everything-youve-ever-thought-consideration.jpg

All this will be stored securely in the SE Secure Enclave. But - this is a chance, it needs a huge amount of fast data processing power in the Bionic A11 chip.

FR Facial Recognition for a long time exists already e.g. Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ and others.

Forensics Suites should find a way to collect evidence based on in-memory analysis to get out the facial biometric evidence.

Being so close to get actual multi biometric data evidence of 30k data points but being kept out is unacceptable. This is real 'Going Dark'.

Forensis Suites are called to find a way to collect evidence.

Hang-in for LE please!!!

No they shouldn’t. I suggest you read Apples white paper on iOS security. Touch ID data is handled by the secure enclave. Not even the OS itself has access to it. I suppose Face ID will be done in a similar way. The guys at Apple are very good at their job.
We are lucky we still currently have the iTunes backup, I suspect that this won’t be around forever.

Yes, Apple does a very good job on security (since Zdziarsky joined them even better). NXP is no more. All ICs are in the A11 Bionic. This is top of class security all-in-one chip.

But there must be a way. Don't give up!

Seems that the TrueDepth camera system does not take the thermal/FLIR image into the current algo.

But there IS an IR camera - why they did not take this into consideration?

Forensics Suites should …

Fascinating. I read through the post several times and simply do not see anywhere where it says, "…and I'm willing to help by…" or "…through the use of…"…

This article suggests a mask can be used to fool Face ID http//www.securityweek.com/iphone-xs-face-id-bypassed-mask
