I'm consider purchase of Forensic Explorer but first I need to know if the program has a one very important to me feature that I use constantly in X-Ways - verify file types based on signatures and various algorithms. Anyone knows if FEX has such ability ?

So I bought a copy of FEX and have been testing it out on a number of simulated cases. So far I'm very impressed with it. It does indeed have a file signature analysis feature - see page 291 of the user manual, available here.

It's also very reminiscent of the feel and best features of EnCase 6. For me that's a really good thing. And so far the customer support has been excellent.

Cheers,

Ben

Thanks for pointing me out to this section of manual. I tried FEX during early state (at 1.x version), and with given description it seems that this product evolve in right direction.
I hope that FEX now is more stable than it used to be in early versions.

Regards
Artur
