Forensic Recovery and Analysis of SmartWatches

I’m a student conducting research on digital forensics, and I’m particularly interested in smartwatches. I’d like to learn more about how these devices can be forensically collected, imaged, or cloned for further investigation.

• What tools or techniques are available for acquiring data from smartwatches (e.g., Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Fitbit, Garmin)?

• Are there established best practices for handling these devices to maintain evidence integrity?

• What types of data can typically be collected (health metrics, messages, GPS, etc.)?

• What are the common challenges or limitations compared to traditional mobile device forensics?

Any guidance, recommended tools, or resources would be really helpful for my research.
