I've been examining some recent MacBooks, in cases that involve finding phyical locations where the laptops have been. I've found in the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.wifi.known-networks.plist a few very useful GPS coordinates associated with access points. Some of them are for APs in cafes, holiday apartments etc and some are from what look like homes (Virgin Media UK).
What I can't figure out is why some connections have them and some haven't? Is it coming from the AP itself? Can anyone shed any light?
