A client of mine is looking to buy new monitors for their forensic lab. Of the two models they are looking at one has HDCP while the other does not. Obvioulsy they want to be able to view the maximum number of file types, so does the presence of HDCP impact on this?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

In most instances it would be a non-issue. However if you are investigating illegal file sharing of pirated Blue-Ray discs you might not be able to view the HD content when the monitor is attached via the DVI/HDMI interface to a non-HDCP video card.
