Hello!
Relatives sent me a smartphone (Samsung A50, A505FM, Android 11) of a deceased person. It is important for them to extract photos (and other data) from the smartphone.
The smartphone has a pattern-lock (graphic dot key) and nothing more.
What technologies could help here? UFED?
Thank you very much.
You could use the Google account associated with this device to reset the pattern.
A50 uses file based encryption so you can't bypass the passcode. It has to be bruteforced. UFED and Xry supports it, assuming firmware is from before 03.2022.
This option is long gone. You can lock unlocked phone without passcode remotely, but you can't change the passcode anymore. It should still be possible through Samsung account.

This doesn't work for me 🙁

How to find out the firmware date? A505FMPUS9CUK2 - is this?
And are there other ways to bypass the passcode?
upd.
UFED 7.49.x can't connect to the phone (without display error) 😥 this happens only with this phone (not others with the similar system)
That's firmware from 11.2021 so not patched yet. Try using a more recent UFED version. 7.49 is quite old at this point.
@arcaine2 the password was bypassed, but the phone hangs and does not start after entering this password... what might have happened?
upd. after brute force by UFED we gained bootloop on phone...
Any ideas?
What do you mean by bypassed? It's not possible to bypass passcode on FBE based phones. Did UFED found the correct passcode?

This doesn't look great, but try to flash the same (or slightly later) version using ODIN, and select HOME_CSC file as the CSC part.
