The local police in my area have wrongly accused me of being involved in a crime. They subsequently seized my iPhone and told me that they want to recover messages and Safari browsing history.
I explained that I very regularly delete my text messages and Safari history but they insisted that they must look for themselves.
I am curious as to what they can actually dig out from my iPhone. It’s an iPhone XS Max running iOS 13. The phone was passcode protected with only 4 digits. I did not provide them with the passcode.
Can anyone tell me if A) The police can crack a four digit passcode on such model of iPhone? and B) Can they recover my deleted data?

They will definitely get into the phone, but with the current state of SQLite databases on iOS 13, the deleted data may very likely be unrecoverable from the device.
@kwazo Most departments are using GREYKEY these days to crack IOS devices. Since you only had a 4 digit passcode, it won't take long for them to crack it.

After GreyKey cracks it, they'll likely use cellebrite to dump the phone since they've got the passcode to unlock it.
