Hello all,

We have iPhone 5s and examining it in very important case. We have also image of (we hope) trusted computer. On that computer is iTunes installed and backup of the iPhone. This backup was made 1 month before crime committed. We are interested of information saved on the iPhone for that missing month. In the backup is information that iPhone running iOS ver. 8.1.1 and in that 1-month time comes update to 8.1.2, so the highest ver. possible is 8.1.2. When we turned iPhone on we noticed device is disabled with sign “try again in 23,000,000 … whatever minutes”. We are assuming this happens because iPhone was turned off for very long time and battery goes completely down. When we finally turned device on (after almost 2 h and 30 min of charging) there is date “1 st January” on the screen.

If somebody knows what are ours options and what we can do? How can we remove Disabled & reset Passcode and continue to work with the IP-Box?

Often this has been seen happening when (for whatever reasons) the iPhone "lost" current date/time.

Putting in it a SIM that will connect to a GSM network and automatically reset date to current one may solve the issue, see
http//www.forensicfocus.com/Forums/viewtopic/p=6581260/

and
http//hotcoding.crombz.com/2013/06/iphone-deactivated-for-next-40-years.html

Please note how the procedure might not be fully "forensically sound" as anyway some data is pushed by the SIM provider connection, and anyway this will only "remove the miliions minutes delay" and you need to have the password/PIN to access the iPhone, if such a password/PIN has been set…
