iPhone Photo Library File Organization

I'm trying to determine whether an image found in an iPhone was sent by the user or received by the user. The file path of the specific image is ...Syndication.photoslibrary/scopes/syndication/resources/derivatives/E/... 

In looking at the folder view for the Syndication.photoslibrary/ I can see several different sub folders that run from 0-9 and then from A-F. Is there any way to determine what the signification of each folder is and why this image in question was categorized under the E sub folder?
