I have been looking for a product that will image an iPhone that was passcoded. Ixam says it will do the job. Has anyone used the produce? What is the reporting capabilities like? Also a ball park price. Thanks
I haven't used it but the latest price is £1725 GBP.
iXAM will give you a bit-for-bit image of an iPhone, but you should be aware of limitations (due to encryption) currently with iPhone 4 (and 3GS where iOS 4> has been restored on to the device).
The product is supplied with a free decoding and reporting tool to speed up obtaining meaningful results.
Feel free to contact us with any more questions.
Thanks
If you're LE, take a look at Zdziarski's tools at
They're free for LE, and (I believe) have the same (if not better) capabilities to iXAM.
With iOS 4+ (on 3GS or iPhone 4), I don't believe there's any tools out there to get a bit-for-bit image, but the iphoneinsecurity tools will give you a full LOGICAL image.
I am retired LE and do not believe Zdziarski's tools are available to me. Thanks for responding.
I belive he does also make them available to Non-LE for a fee. I have no idea what that fee is, though.
Another tool to consider is Cellebrite UFED Physical that will add iPhone physical and file system dump capability in few weeks.

Good luck contacting him. He doesn't answer emails at either his personal domain and iphoneinsecurity. I tried to obtain them a few months ago…

I'd be interested in feedback re UFED Physical's iphone support once you've had a go with it. I'm trying to push for our office to get one, and if it has good iPhone support I think that'd be a big plus!
Here is what I have found out. Ixam will take a physical image of an iphone 4 and/or any iphone that has 4.x OS installed, but the data partition is encrypted and the encryption had not been broken to date.
The Cellebrite UFED and Physical can only bypass passcodes on iphones with 3.x and earlier. Cellebrite did say they are coming out with an update next month that has been rumored to have some capability of bypassing the passcode on OS 4.x iphones. Cellebrite support said to check their web page for the changes in the new release.
