Awhile back, I posted a rather negative short review about MacForensicsLab. I was particularly bothered by it's lack of ability to recover everything I was looking for, it's price, and apparent lack of features.
The price still bothers me, but I've been working with it and with other tools that can handle HFS file systems and am now convinced that it might be the best tool available for recovering deleted files from HFS file systems.
Any tool needs to recognize file types to recover them appropriately. Most of the other tools a) don't recognize as many types as MFL and b) don't recognize many Mac specific types. (Oddly enough, UFS Explorer recognized Parallels images and MFL didn't. Since that is one of the things I was looking for, I was not happy with MFL.)
So, the upshot is that I'm now reevaluating MFL and have deleted my prior post on the topic.
