Jamie,
Good eye! I see you spotted the article about the grants we at Bloomsburg University (Pennsylvania) received from the governor.
I am the professor who is most involved in getting this new program (a Bachelor's Degree) started. I'd be happy to answer any questions anyone has.
Three of us just spent a week with Stefan Fleischmann in Chicago learning about X-Ways and WinHex. Impressive products and the nicest guy.
Thanks.
Good to hear from you and good luck with the new program!
Cheers,
Jamie

I live in the Lehigh Valley, and am an ESU alumni. I would like to hear more about this program.
I suppose it falls under the computer science major?
Skip
Hi Skip,
Yes, it is housed in the computer science department (which is also the math department).
The 5 new courses specific to forensics are
Introduction to Computer Forensics-basically looking at diskettes with Norton Diskedit to get a real hands-on bit level feel for things.
Computer Forensics File Systems 1-an in-depth theoretical understanding of the FAT file system together with practical, hands-on anaylsis techniques using X-Ways Forensics
Computer Forensics File Systems 2-an in-depth theoretical understanding of the NTFS file system together with practical, hands-on anaylsis techniques using X-Ways Forensics
Computer Forensics in the Windows Environment-an introduction to EnCase.
Advanced Topics in Computer Forensics-FTK, Paraben, cell phones, PDAs and other interesting topics as they come up.
In addition, we require two programming courses (Visual Basic or Java), Database, Data Mining, two forensic accounting courses, criminal justice, etc.
I hope this helps.
When are you going to put a remote campus in the Harrisburg area? There's at least one state employee that's interested… )
Draxsr,
P.M. me. We can certainly invite you to talks and other activities on campus (it's not that far a drive!) until we get that branch set up in Harrisburg.
We may also have to consider online courses since that seems to be the way many people who already have full time jobs get this type of training.
We have also been told by our president that we need to start offering more off site classes that lead to a degree. If we could find more people in Harrisburg who are interested…….who knows?
