Hi all,

We’re currently attempting imaging a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with Paladin on a USB stick. However, as soon as I hit the ‘Start’ button in Paladin toolbox to kickoff the imaging, the process disappears/crashes.

This isn’t the first time we’re having this issue, and the common factor is that for both times the devices contained an NVMe drive (but then from researching on the Internet this doesn’t appear to be a known issue for Paladin?)

We’ve tried it multiple times with different USB ports and versions of Paladin (6, 7, 8 edge, in 32bit/64bit), but the process kept crashing at the same stage, and no logs are created at all

Has anybody had a similar experience and managed to overcome the issue?

Thanks as always!

Morning,

Not quite answering the question for Paladin…but I have used WinPE or CAINE when encountering issues imaging Windows based tablets which may be worth checking out if you can't overcome the Paladin issue.

Thanks,

J.

Thanks @jjh2320. Interestingly I received an exact same suggestion from inside the firm earlier today, and you're right - CAINE did overcome the random crashing issue Paladin had! It was able to perform acquisitions right through to the end but unfortunately the image was unable to be verified. Will give it another try tomorrow morning fingers crossed it would work!
