Hello everyone!

I have a Verizon GSM Motorola Droid Razr Maxx running KitKat that I am trying to recover deleted pictures from. Cellebrite only supports a logical acquisition so far, so I'm trying to think of any other options I can to possibly get these pictures back. First off, can anyone tell me if this phone can even be rooted?

After doing some research on GeoHot's towelroot and kingo, it doesn't seem like the phone is supported. Seems like JTAG might be my next option?

Just curious to know if anyone has had any luck with this yet!

Thank you!

Hello,

I have a Verizon Motorola Droid Maxx Mini which is evidence in a homicide, I am also trying to retrieve some deleted data. I have tried Cellebrite ultimate, Device Seizure, MobiEdit, Oxygen, and from what I can tell neither my Riff box or Octoplus box directly support this device. Does anyone have any suggestions how to get a physical image of this device?

Thank You,

We couldn't get JTAG to work on ours either…. and no one ever wants to spend the money on chip-off.

Unfortunately what we end up doing a lot of the time is holding evidence until Cellebrite supports the physical acquisition… who knows how long that will be though.

If anyone else has advice, JDiamond and I would love to hear it!

Hello,

no need to wait for Cellebrite this time, both devices are rootable. Actually there ain't many devices not being rootable at all. In general, just because Geohots Towelroot doesn't support a device does not mean nobody else exploited that particular phone, there are much more rooting methods than Towelroot.

Use XDA for rooting probs, you basically find any model there

XT912 XDA-Thread
XT910 XDA-Thread
Droid Ultra/Maxx/Mini XDA-Thread

Once devices are rooted you probably know how to proceed, find out partition layout for your specific device and image desired partitions using DD via ADB.

Ben

Edit sorry mates, forget it, all methods just for Jelly Bean. Check XDA for any KitKat method, if it exists it will be there…
