Hey all,

I have seen some previous posts in regard to this, but wanted to get a little more specific.

I have a Samsung Chromebook (Model XE500CI3). Trying to image it. It has a USB 2.0 and 3.0 port. I have connected it to my system and its not reading it as anything (from what I had read I thought it would read it as a external device).

Has anyone successfully worked on one of these? I have the password and am able to access all the data manually. I know that its cloud based, but would it be worth it to try and manually open it up? Any thoughts or insight appreciated.

Thanks

Firstly, don't be tempted to try and change the settings of the device to allow USB boot, lets just say that if you try that….you won't need to worry about examining any data anymore.

This being the case, it excludes the use of Boot devices such as ADF or Palladin. In hindsight, I should have booted it live and tried imaging solutions from there.

Thankfully this was a 'low risk' device submitted for triage, but it caused me hours of pain.
